About Me

Hi World!

I'M Kristina

I am a neurodivergent photographic artist residing in St Paul MN, with my husband, two children, and dog (Ziggy). I love tacos and pie, I jump in puddles, and watch Wheel of Fortune. I cut my cupcakes in half for frosting sandwiches. I’m seldom found without a towel and wish desperately that Babel Fish were real. I love a good pun, and should not be left unsupervised in book shops, bakeries, art supply and hardware stores.

Born and raised in Spicer, Minnesota I grew up surrounded by water. Gravel roads seemed endless, and books were plentiful. From there I ventured off to study various forms of art and media, from Academy of Arts in San Francisco, CA, to the Art Institute International, Houston TX, and more recently Rocky Mountain School of Photography, Missoula MT, along with various workshops and seminars (including an upcoming workshop on cyanotypes, you’ll see some of my fantastic failures as I work through learning the process and create using this form of alternative photography).

Curiosity, Creativity, and Connection are what feed my soul. I cannot imagine a life without either, as one leads me to the others ever entwining, strengthening, until they are braided like sweet grass.

Curiosity

"What is creative living? Any life that is driven more strongly by curiosity than by fear."

Elizabeth Gilbert

Creativity

"The world always seems brighter when you've just made something that wasn't there before."

Neil Gaiman

Connection

"I love people with curious minds and stubborn hearts who simply can't do small talk."

Bridgett Devoue

My works have hung in galleries and shows around the world. From Japan to the Plains Art Museum in Fargo, ND. My CV is as varied as one’s should be when life encompasses the intense nature of parenting. I have learned and created the most during these past years finding motherhood a wealth of creativity and reinvention. My process can take anywhere from five minutes to be years in the making, needing to be revisited again and again before a piece is ready. Once published my pieces no longer belong just to me, they have lives of their own, their stories truly begin when you first meet. Some pieces will resonate, some will not, regardless they are there for you to take what you need and return to again and again as life carries you on.

When we meet a piece of art, be it the first time or the 100th, we are bringing everything we are to that moment. Standing there, it does not so much matter the Artist’s intent nor the context in which the piece was created, what matters is the connection you feel between you and the art.”
