“We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
― Anaïs Nin
Masking
it would be years before i would have a term to go with it. it would be years before i would start to feel as though i belonged to myself. it would be years before i am able to leave the mask at home instead of carrying it with me everywhere i would go.
MY PROCESS IS ANYWHERE FROM 5 MINUTES TO 5 YEARS
it can be very slow brewing. This connection cannot be forced. The drive to find it is fueled by curiosity and a burning desire to be tethered to that which I am drawn to, even if I cannot see clearly in that moment. Of all the things I have done all the places I have been, and people I have met, I return to the abstract to find my center.
i come back to you

Just off the ditches, as if riding the constant wind that blows across that which is farm country, are the ghostly reminders that we cannot escape progress and that which has happened to the family farm.
